About 3 months ago, my cousin Ben was at work telling some of us about this website you can go to and fulfill 10 offers and have 1 referral who also did the same. If you fulfilled the offers and your referral fulfilled theirs, you would be able to get a 42" Plasma HDTV. At first, I was hesitant, because I thought what do I need with a plasma TV??? Then the more I thought about it and consulted with Joy, we decided that it would be a great idea to get for my Dad, plus we figured if he didn't want it, we could find someone that would. (Although, if I knew how nice it would be, I would not have hesitated one second.) So, Ben got all the people that we needed to get this chain of people fulfilling offers and we all started. You had a 60-day slot to be approved for all of your offers or else you lost the chance to get the TV. I was my brother Jacob's referral. I applied for all of my offers at the end of May while my Dad was in the hospital. I was sitting right next to him and he didn't have a clue. :) Then the waiting game began. Finally, I was approved around July 20th. Jacob had some glitches in his approval process, so his 60 days ran out and his TV hadn't been approved. Another guy who works in the same department as Jacob and I had the same problem, so he started emailing and contacting the company to find out why they weren't approved, since they fulfilled all of their offers. They were approved and were able to fax over their paperwork on July 24th. Once we sent in our paperwork to redeem the TV, they said it would be 6-8 weeks for delivery.
Fast forward to this past Monday...I was at work and another guy at work said his wife received a call from a company called PC Connection and they asked for someone to be home on Tuesday between 8-12 for a delivery. He tried calling PC Connection to find out what they were delivering but they wouldn't tell him. We all speculated and said that it must be his TV. About a few hours later, I received a phone call from a company called Yellow Transportation. They said they wanted to schedule a delivery of a package to me on Wednesday between 10-2. I asked where the package was coming from and they said PC Connection. We were all excited, but sad that Jacob didn't get a call yet. A few hours later, he ended up getting a phone call too, so his delivery was for Wednesday between 8-12. We were told that when the package came that we would be responsible for bringing it into the house. So, Joy & I stayed home from work on Wednesday to get it all set up.
As most of you know, Dad went into the hospital on Sunday, so he had no clue. He was supposed to be released on Wednesday morning, but the hospital decided to keep him a little longer. He was able to come home in the early evening. We just figured that even if Dad came home in the morning that we could still surprise him with it coming or we were going to enlist the help of my Aunt Linda to "occupy" him for the day until we could get everything together. My Dad called me on Wednesday morning to tell me that the hospital was keeping him longer and that he didn't think he was going to be able to come home until Thursday. I called my aunt and asked if she would stay and occupy my Dad at the hospital while Joy and I got the TV set up and running. Dad called me in the afternoon and said they were going to release him and that he wanted to meet us somewhere to get a good dinner, cause they didn't give him much to eat in the hospital. Joy & I had just finished putting together the stand we had just bought and had set the TV up. Joy ran and took a shower, while I hooked up all the cords to the TV. I couldn't figure out if I had hooked them up correctly, but since we were running out of time, I just left it and finished picking up around the house. My Dad, Aunt Linda, Joy & I all met to eat and then came home. Dad & Linda were ahead of us in another car, and made it home before us. Dad was worn out from being in the hospital, so he was sitting on the stairs going up to our apartment when Joy and I came in. Joy ran up to the apartment and got the camera ready and here is what the outcome was.
Sorry for the lighting not being so good. Our camera lens had a smug on it. :) Needless to say, he was very surprised and almost broke into tears if you notice at the end of the video. I'm going to take some actual pictures of the TV, so that you can see it better. Be looking for one more post, that may only be pictures. :)
Because of fulfilling one of the offers, I am also supposed to be getting a Bose Surround Sound System. Right now, it's taking awhile, but hey, it will be worth it in the end if it's anything compared to the TV we just received. :)
I was raised in a big family and enjoy spending time with them. Not only do I enjoy spending time with my family, but I also enjoy spending time with my Church family.
